First known as frontman of Minneapolis-based band Semisonic, Dan Wilson later embarked on a solo career with the release of two albums ‘Free Life’ and most recently in 2009 ‘Live at the Pantages.’ Now, the singer/songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist and occasional cartoonist is set to release his third solo album ‘Love Without Fear’ after already releasing his single “Disappearing” in November.
Wilson invited quite a few friends in the industry to join him on ‘Love Without Fear,’ mentioning Sara Bareilles, Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks, Missy Higgins, Blake Mills on guitar with Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek, and his sister Sara Watkins also from Nickel Creek contributing to vocals.
The album was recorded in both Los Angeles and Minneapolis, and Wilson says the record is “about feeling alone, about desperately wishing for connection and togetherness, and about finding those things and what that means.” As for the sound of the record, Wilson said inspiration came from “Americana and Beatles-influenced rock and roll” with a “bit of twang and a lot of cinematic emotion.”
The album is now available for pre-order on Pledge Music, and in addition to securing the album first, you will receive special content like album artwork reveals, live videos, and a first look at Wilson’s handwritten note pages from the special Book/CD packaging.
