Super Bowl Sunday offered a stage for more than one type of epic battle. U2, Bank of America and (RED) used the captive audience to further the fight against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
A one-minute superbowl commercial featured a sample of U2's new song, "Invisible," and offered fans a free download for the following 24 hours. For each download, Bank of America pledged to donate one dollar to (RED). "Invisible" hit one million downloads within an hour of broadcast and has raised at least $3 million since for (RED).
Bono called the song, "a sneak preview" for the group's upcoming album, which expects release sometime this summer. Although the free download time has lapsed, "Invisible" is available for purchase on iTunes. All proceeds will go to (RED).
